a sword upon you, that shall avenge
the quarrel of [my
] covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send
the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

] by the king's garden: (now the Chaldees [were
] against the city round about:) and [the king]
went the way toward the plain.
] desolate, your cities [are
with fire: your land, strangers
devour it in your presence, and [it is
] desolate, as overthrown by strangers
The LORD hath sworn
by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give
thy corn [to be
] meat for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast laboured:
Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Behold
, I will turn back the weapons of war that [are
] in your hands, wherewith ye fight against the king of Babylon, and [against
] the Chaldeans, which besiege you without the walls, and I
will assemble them into the midst of this city. ... And afterward, saith the LORD, I will
deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall
smite them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy.
And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.

Thou also, son of man, take
thee a tile
, and lay it before thee, and pourtray upon it the city, [even]

be cut off, but not
for himself: and the people of the prince

all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city
shall be taken, and the houses
rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue

be cut off from the city.

therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by
Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso
readeth, let him understand:) ... Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
For the days
shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast
a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, ... And shall lay
thee even with the ground, and thy children
within thee; and they shall not leave
in thee one stone upon another; because
thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. ... And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led
away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem
shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until
the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
