And Rachel said, God hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice, and hath given me a son: therefore called she his name Dan
And the standard of the camp
of the children of Dan set forward, [which was
] the rereward
of all the camps throughout their hosts: and over his host [was
the son of Ammishaddai.
And of Dan he said, Dan [is
] a lion's whelp: he shall leap from Bashan.
And there was a certain man of Zorah
, of the family of the Danites, whose name [was
] Manoah; and his wife [was
, and bare not.
And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson: and the child
grew, and the LORD blessed him. ... And the Spirit
of the LORD began to move him at times in the camp of Dan
between Zorah and Eshtaol.
And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.
In those days [there was
] no king
in Israel: and in those days the tribe
of the Danites sought them an inheritance to dwell in; for unto
that day [all their
] inheritance had not fallen unto them among the tribes of Israel. ... And the children of Dan sent of their family five men
from their coasts, men of valour, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, to spy
out the land, and to search it; and they said unto them, Go, search the land: who when they came to mount
Ephraim, to the house of Micah, they lodged there.
