  1 aRescue° me, O LORD°, from evil° men°;
  Preserve° me from bviolent° men°
  2 Who° adevise° evil° things° in [their] hearts°;
  They bcontinually°° stir° up wars°.
  3 They asharpen° their tongues° as a serpent°;
  bPoison° of a viper° is under° their lips°.

8 Grantºª not,² O LORD,º the desiresº of the wicked:º furtherºª not² his wicked device;º [lest] they exaltºª themselves. Selah.º 9 [As for] the headº of those that compass me about,º let the mischiefº of their own lipsº coverºª them. 10 Let burning coalsº fallºªªª upon² them: let them be castºª into the fire;º into deep pits,º that they rise² not² up again.¹ª 11 Let not² an evil speakerºº be establishedºª in the earth:º evilº shall huntºª the violentº manº to overthrowº [him].
