[A Psalm] of David.

  3 aTrust° in the LORD° and do° good°;
  bDwell° in the land° and Iccultivate° faithfulness°.
  4 aDelight° yourself in the LORD°;
  And He will bgive° you the desires° of your heart°.
  5 aCommit° your way° to the LORD°,
  Trust° also in Him, and He will do° it.
  6 He will bring° forth° ayour righteousness° as the light°
  And your judgment° bas the noonday°.

David persuadeth to patience and confidence in God, by the different estate of the godly and the wicked.

1 ¶ [[[A Psalm] of David.]]º Fret¹ª not thyself²² because of evildoers,ºª neither² be thou enviousºª against the workersºª of iniquity.º 2 For² they shall soonº be cut downºª like the grass,º and witherºª as the greenº herb.º 3 Trustºª in the LORD,º and doºª good;º [so] shalt thou dwellºª in the land,º and verilyº thou shalt be fed.ºª 4 Delight¹ª thyself² also in² the LORD;º and he shall giveºª thee the desiresº of thine heart.º 5 Commitºª thy wayº unto² the LORD;º trustºª also in² him; and he² shall bring [it] to pass.ºª 6 And he shall bring forthºª thy righteousnessº as the light,º and thy judgmentº as the noonday.º 7 Restºª in the LORD,º and wait patientlyºª for him: fret¹ª not thyself²² because of him who prosperethºª in his way,º because of the manº who bringeth¹ª wicked devices¹ to pass.ºª² 8 Ceaseºª from anger,º² and forsakeºª wrath:º fret¹ª not thyself²² in any wiseº to do evil.ºª 9 For² evildoersºª shall be cut off:ºª but those that wait¹ª upon² the LORD,º they² shall inheritºª the earth.º 10 For yet² a little² while,¹ and the wickedº [shall] not² [be]: yea, thou shalt diligently considerºª² his place,º and it [shall] not² [be]. 11 But the meekº shall inheritºª the earth;º and shall delight¹ª themselves² in² the abundanceº of peace.º 12 The wickedº plottethºª against the just,º and gnashethºª upon² him with his teeth.º 13 The Lordº shall laughºª at him: for² he seethºª that² his dayº is coming.ºª 14 The wickedº have drawn outºª the sword,º and have bentºª their bow,º to cast downºª the poorº and needy,º [and] to slayºª such as be of uprightº conversation.º 15 Their swordº shall enterºª into their own heart,º and their bowsº shall be broken.ºª 16 A littleº that a righteous² man¹ hath [is] betterº than the richesº² of manyº wicked.º 17 For² the armsº of the wickedº shall be broken:ºª but the LORDº upholdethºª the righteous.º 18 The LORDº knowethºª the daysº of the upright:º and their inheritanceº shall be² for ever.º 19 They shall not² be ashamedºª in the evilº time:º and in the daysº of famineº they shall be satisfied.ºª 20 But² the wickedº shall perish,ºª and the enemiesºª of the LORDº [shall be] as the fatº of lambs:º they shall consume;ºª into smokeº shall they consume away.ºª 21 The wickedº borroweth,ºª and payeth² not² again:¹ª but the righteousº sheweth mercy,ºª and giveth.ºª 22 For² [such as be] blessedºª of him shall inheritºª the earth;º and [they that be] cursedºª of him shall be cut off.ºª 23 The stepsº of a [good] manº are orderedºª by the LORD:º² and he delightethºª in his way.º 24 Though² he fall,ºª he shall not² be utterly cast down:ºª for² the LORDº upholdethºª [him with] his hand.º 25 I have been² young,º and² [now] am old;ºª yet have I not² seenºª the righteousº forsaken,ºª nor his seedº beggingºª bread.º 26 [He is] everº² merciful,ºª and lendeth;ºª and his seedº [is] blessed.º 27 Departºª from² evil,º and doºª good;º and dwellºª for evermore.º 28 For² the LORDº lovethºª judgment,º and forsakethºª not²² his saints;º they are preservedºª for ever:º but the seedº of the wickedº shall be cut off.ºª 29 The righteousº shall inheritºª the land,º and dwellºª therein² for ever.º 30 The mouthº of the righteousº speakethºª wisdom,º and his tongueº talkethºª of judgment.º 31 The lawº of his Godº [is] in his heart;º none² of his stepsº shall slide.ºª 32 The wickedº watchethºª the righteous,º and seekethºª to slayºª him. 33 The LORDº will not² leaveºª him in his hand,º nor² condemnºª him when he is judged.ºª 34 Waitºª on² the LORD,º and keepºª his way,º and he shall exaltºª thee to inheritºª the land:º when the wickedº are cut off,ºª thou shalt seeºª [it]. 35 I have seenºª the wickedº in great power,º and spreading¹ª himself² like a greenº bay tree.º 36 Yet he passed away,ºª and, lo,² he [was] not:² yea, I soughtºª him, but he could not² be found.ºª 37 Markºª the perfectº [man], and beholdºª the upright:º for² the endº of [that] manº [is] peace.º 38 But the transgressorsºª shall be destroyedºª together:º the endº of the wickedº shall be cut off.ºª 39 But the salvationº of the righteousº [is] of the LORD:º² [he is] their strengthº in the timeº of trouble.º 40 And the LORDº shall helpºª them, and deliverºª them: he shall deliverºª them from the wicked,º² and saveºª them, because² they trustºª in him.
