15 ¶ But it shall come to pass,² if² thou wilt not² hearkenºª unto the voiceº of the LORDº thy God,º to observeºª to doºª² all² his commandmentsº and his statutesº which² I² commandºª thee this day;º that all² these² cursesº shall comeºª upon² thee, and overtakeºª thee: 16 Cursedºª [shalt] thou² [be] in the city,º and cursedºª [shalt] thou² [be] in the field.º 17 Cursedºª [shall be] thy basketº and thy store.º 18 Cursedºª [shall be] the fruitº of thy body,º and the fruitº of thy land,º the increaseº of thy kine,º and the flocksº of thy sheep.º 19 Cursedºª [shalt] thou² [be] when thou comest in,ºª and cursedºª [shalt] thou² [be] when thou goest out.ºª 20 The LORDº shall sendºª upon thee² cursing,º² vexation,º and rebuke,º in all² that thou settestº thine handº unto for² to do,ºª until² thou be destroyed,ºª and until² thou perishºª quickly;º becauseº² of the wickednessº of thy doings,º whereby² thou hast forsakenºª me. 21 The LORDº shall make² the pestilenceº cleaveºª unto thee, until² he have consumedºª thee from off²² the land,º whither²² thou² goestºª to possessºª it. 22 The LORDº shall smiteºª thee with a consumption,º and with a fever,º and with an inflammation,º and with an extreme burning,º and with the sword,º and with blasting,º and with mildew;º and they shall pursueºª thee until² thou perish.ºª 23 And thy heavenº that² [is] over² thy headº shall be² brass,º and the earthº that² is under² thee [shall be] iron.º 24 The LORDº shall makeºª² the rainº of thy landº powderº and dust:º from² heavenº shall it come downºª upon² thee, until² thou be destroyed.ºª 25 The LORDº shall causeºª thee to be smittenºª beforeº thine enemies:ºª thou shalt go outºª oneº wayº against² them, and fleeºª sevenº waysº beforeº them: and shalt be² removedº into all² the kingdomsº of the earth.º 26 And thy carcaseº shall be² meatº unto all² fowlsº of the air,º and unto the beastsº of the earth,º and no man² shall fray [them] away.ºª 27 The LORDº will smiteºª thee with the botchº of Egypt,º and with the emerods,ºª¹ and with the scab,º and with the itch,º whereof² thou canstºª not² be healed.ºª 28 The LORDº shall smiteºª thee with madness,º and blindness,º and astonishmentº of heart:º 29 And thou shalt² gropeºª at noonday,º as² the blindº gropethºª in darkness,º and thou shalt not² prosperºª² in thy ways:º and thou shalt be² only² oppressedºª and spoiledºª evermore,º² and no man² shall saveºª [thee]. 30 Thou shalt betrothºª a wife,º and anotherº manº shall lieª¹ª¹ with² her: thou shalt buildºª an house,º and thou shalt not² dwellºª therein: thou shalt plantºª a vineyard,º and shalt not² gather the grapesºª thereof. 31 Thine oxº [shall be] slainºª before thine eyes,º and thou shalt not² eatºª thereof:² thine assº [shall be] violently taken awayºª from before thy face,º² and shall not² be restoredºª to thee: thy sheepº [shall be] givenºª unto thine enemies,ºª and thou shalt have none² to rescueºª [them]. 32 Thy sonsº and thy daughtersº [shall be] givenºª unto anotherº people,º and thine eyesº shall look,ºª and failº [with longing] for² them all² the dayº long: and [there shall be] no² mightº in thine hand.º 33 The fruitº of thy land,º and all² thy labours,º shall a nationº which² thou knowestºª not² eat up;ºª and thou shalt be² only² oppressedºª and crushedºª alway:º² 34 So that thou shalt be² madºª for the sightº² of thine eyesº which² thou shalt see.ºª 35 The LORDº shall smiteºª thee in² the knees,º and in² the legs,º with a soreº botchº that² cannotºª² be healed,ºª from the soleº² of thy footº unto² the top of thy head.º 36 The LORDº shall bring¹ª² thee, and thy kingº which² thou shalt setºª over² thee, unto² a nationº which² neither² thou² nor thy fathersº have known;ºª and there² shalt thou serveºª otherº gods,º woodº and stone.º 37 And thou shalt become² an astonishment,º a proverb,º and a byword,º among all² nationsº whither²² the LORDº shall leadºª thee. 38 Thou shalt carry¹ª much¹ seed¹ outºª²² into the field,º and shalt gather¹ª [but] little¹ in;ºª² for² the locustº shall consumeºª it. 39 Thou shalt plantºª vineyards,º and dressºª [them], but shalt neither² drinkºª [of] the wine,º nor² gatherºª [the grapes]; for² the wormsº shall eatºª them. 40 Thou shalt have² olive treesº throughout all² thy coasts,º but thou shalt not² anointºª [thyself] with the oil;º for² thine oliveº shall castºª [his fruit]. 41 Thou shalt begetºª sonsº and daughters,º but thou shalt not² enjoy² them; for² they shall go¹ª² into captivity.º 42 All² thy treesº and fruitº of thy landº shall the locustº consume.ºª 43 The strangerº that² [is] withinº thee shall get upºª above² thee very¹ high;º and thou² shalt come downºª very¹ low.º 44 He² shall lendºª to thee, and thou² shalt not² lendºª to him: he² shall be² the head,º and thou² shalt be² the tail.º 45 Moreover all² these² cursesº shall comeºª upon² thee, and shall pursueºª thee, and overtakeºª thee, till² thou be destroyed;ºª because² thou hearkenedstºª not² unto the voiceº of the LORDº thy God,º to keepºª his commandmentsº and his statutesº which² he commandedºª thee: 46 And they shall be² upon thee for a signº and for a wonder,º and upon thy seedº for¹ ever.º² 47 Because²² thou servedstºª not²² the LORDº thy Godº with joyfulness,º and with gladnessº of heart,º for the abundanceº² of all² [things]; 48 Therefore shalt thou serveºª² thine enemiesºª which² the LORDº shall sendºª against thee, in hunger,º and in thirst,º and in nakedness,º and in wantº of all² [things]: and he shall putºª a yokeº of ironº upon² thy neck,º until² he have destroyedºª thee. 49 The LORDº shall bringºª a nationº against² thee from far,º² from the endº² of the earth,º [as swift] as² the eagleº flieth;ºª a nationº whose² tongueº thou shalt not² understand;ºª 50 A nationº of fierceº countenance,º which² shall not² regardºª the personº of the old,º nor² shew favourºª to the young:º 51 And he shall eatºª the fruitº of thy cattle,º and the fruitº of thy land,º until² thou be destroyed:ºª which² [also] shall not² leaveºª thee [either] corn,º wine,º or oil,º [or] the increaseº of thy kine,º or flocksº of thy sheep,º until² he have destroyedºª thee. 52 And he shall besiegeºª thee in all² thy gates,º until² thy highº and fencedºª wallsº come down,ºª wherein¹² thou² trustedst,ºª throughout all² thy land:º and he shall besiegeºª thee in all² thy gatesº throughout all² thy land,º which² the LORDº thy Godº hath givenºª thee. 53 And thou shalt eatºª the fruitº of thine own body,º the fleshº of thy sonsº and of thy daughters,º which² the LORDº thy Godº hath givenºª thee, in the siege,º and in the straitness,º wherewith² thine enemiesºª shall distressºª thee: 54 [So that] the manº [that is] tenderº among you, and veryº delicate,º his eyeº shall be evil¹ª² toward his brother,º and toward the wifeº of his bosom,º and toward the remnantº of his childrenº which² he shall leave:ºª 55 So that he will not giveºª² to anyº of² them of the fleshº² of his childrenº whom² he shall eat:ºª because²² he hath nothing² leftºª him in the siege,º and in the straitness,º wherewith² thine enemiesºª shall distressºª thee in all² thy gates.º 56 The tenderº and delicate¹ woman² among you, which² would not² adventureºª to setºª the soleº of her footº upon² the groundº for delicatenessºª² and tenderness,º² her eyeº shall be evil¹ª² toward the husbandº of her bosom,º and toward her son,º and toward her daughter,º 57 And toward her young oneº that cometh outºª from between²² her feet,º and toward her childrenº which² she shall bear:ºª for² she shall eatºª them for wantº of all² [things] secretlyº in the siegeº and straitness,º wherewith² thine enemyºª shall distressºª thee in thy gates.º 58 If² thou wilt not² observeºª to doºª² all² the wordsº of this² lawº that are writtenºª in this² book,º that thou mayest fearºª² this² gloriousºª and fearfulºª name,º² THE LORDº THY GOD;º 59 Then the LORDº will make¹ª² thy plaguesº wonderful,ºª and the plaguesº of thy seed,º [even] greatº plagues,º and of long continuance,ºª and soreº sicknesses,º and of long continuance.ºª 60 Moreover he will bringºª upon thee² all² the diseasesº of Egypt,º which² thou wast afraidºª of;º² and they shall cleaveºª unto thee. 61 Also² every² sickness,º and every² plague,º which² [is] not² writtenºª in the bookº of this² law,º them will the LORDº bringºª upon² thee, until² thou be destroyed.ºª 62 And ye shall be leftºª fewº in number,º whereasº² ye were² as the starsº of heavenº for multitude;º because² thou wouldest not² obeyºª the voiceº of the LORDº thy God.º 63 And it shall come to pass,² [that] as² the LORDº rejoicedºª over² you to do you good,ºª² and to multiplyºª you; so² the LORDº will rejoiceºª over² you to destroyºª you, and to bring you to nought;ºª² and ye shall be pluckedºª from off²² the landº whither²² thou² goestºª to possessºª it. 64 And the LORDº shall scatterºª thee among all² people,º from the one endº² of the earthº even unto² the other;º² and there² thou shalt serveºª otherº gods,º which² neither² thou² nor thy fathersº have known,ºª [even] woodº and stone.º 65 And among theseº nationsº shalt thou find no ease,ºª² neither² shall the soleº of thy footº have² rest:º but the LORDº shall giveºª thee there² a tremblingº heart,º and failingº of eyes,º and sorrowº of mind:º 66 And thy lifeº shall hang¹ª² in doubt² beforeº² thee; and thou shalt fearºª dayº and night,º and shalt have none assuranceºª² of thy life:º 67 In the morningº thou shalt say,ºª Would God²² it were¹ª even!º and at evenº thou shalt say,ºª Would God²² it were¹ª morning!º for the fearº² of thine heartº wherewith² thou shalt fear,ºª and for the sightº² of thine eyesº which² thou shalt see.ºª 68 And the LORDº shall bringºª thee into Egyptº again¹ª with ships,º by the wayº whereof² I spakeºª unto thee, Thou shalt seeºª it no² more² again:¹ª² and there² ye shall be soldºª unto your enemiesºª for bondmenº and bondwomen,º and no man² shall buyºª [you].
