Jerusalem’s Desolation Foretold

1 “As for you, son° of man°, take° a asharp° sword°; take° and Iuse° it [as] a barber’s° razor° on your head° and beard°. Then take° bscales° for weighing° and divide° IIthe hair. 2 One° third° you shall burn° in the fire° at the center° of the city°, when the adays° of the siege° are completed°. Then you shall take° one° third° and strike° [it] with the sword° all° around° Ithe city, and one° third° you shall scatter° to the wind°; and I will bunsheathe° a sword° behind° them. 3 Take° also a few° in number° from Ithem and bind° them in the edges° of your [robes]. 4 Take° again° some° of them and throw° them into the fire° and burn° them in the fire°; from it a fire° will Ispread° to all° the house° of Israel°.

is shewed the judgment of Jerusalem for their rebellion,

5 ¶ Thus² saithºª the Lordº GOD;º This² [is] Jerusalem:º I have setºª it in the midstº of the nationsº and countriesº [that are] round aboutº her. 6 And she hath changedºª² my judgmentsº into wickednessº more than² the nations,º and my statutesº more than² the countriesº that² [are] round aboutº her: for² they have refusedºª my judgmentsº and my statutes,º they have not² walkedºª in them. 7 Therefore² thus² saithºª the Lordº GOD;º Because² ye multipliedºª more than² the nationsº that² [are] round aboutº you, [and] have not² walkedºª in my statutes,º neither² have keptºª my judgments,º neither² have doneºª according to the judgmentsº of the nationsº that² [are] round aboutº you; 8 Therefore² thus² saithºª the Lordº GOD;º Behold,² I, even² I,² [am] against² thee, and will executeºª judgmentsº in the midstº of thee in the sightº of the nations.º 9 And I will doºª in thee² that which² I have not² done,ºª and whereunto² I will not² doºª any more² the like,² because¹ of² all² thine abominations.º 10 Therefore² the fathersº shall eatºª the sonsº in the midstº of thee, and the sonsº shall eatºª their fathers;º and I will executeºª judgmentsº in thee, and² the whole² remnantº of thee will I scatterºª into all² the winds.º 11 Wherefore,² [as] I² live,º saithºª the Lordº GOD;º Surely,²² because² thou hast defiledºª² my sanctuaryº with all² thy detestable things,º and with all² thine abominations,º therefore² will I² also diminishºª [thee]; neither² shall mine eyeº spare,ºª neither² will I² have any pity.ºª
