1 Moreover, the aSpirit° lifted° me up and brought° me to the east° gate° of the LORDS° house° which faced° eastward°. And behold°, [there were] twenty-five°° men° at the entrance° of the gate°, and among° them I saw° Jaazaniah° son° of Azzur° and bPelatiah° son° of Benaiah°, leaders° of the people°. 2 He said° to me, “Son° of man°, these° are the men° who devise° iniquity° and agive° evil° advice° in this° city°, 3 who say°, ‘[The time] is not near° to build° houses°. IThis° a[city] is the pot° and we are the flesh°.’ 4 Therefore°, aprophesy° against° them, son° of man°, prophesy°!”

5 ¶ Then the Spirit° of the LORD° fell° upon me, and He said° to me, “Say°, ‘Thus° says° the LORD°, “So° you think°, house° of Israel°, for aI know° Iyour bthoughts°°. 6 You have amultiplied° your slain° in this° city°, filling° its streets° with Ithem.” 7 Therefore°, thus° says° the Lord° IGOD°, “Your aslain° whom° you have laid° in the midst° of IIthe city are the flesh° and this° [city] is the pot°; but IIII will bbring° you out of it. 8 You have afeared° a sword°; so I will bbring° a sword° upon you,” the Lord° GOD° declares°. 9 “And I will bring° you out of the midst° of Ithe city and deliver° you into the hands° of astrangers° and bexecute° judgments° against you. 10 You will afall° by the sword°. I will judge° you to the bborder° of Israel°; so you shall know° that I am the LORD°. 11 This° [city] will anot be a pot° for you, nor° will you be flesh° in the midst° of it, [but] I will judge° you to the border° of Israel°. 12 Thus you will know° that I am the LORD°; for you have not walked° in My statutes° nor° have you aexecuted° My ordinances°, but have acted° according to the ordinances° of the bnations° around° you.”’”

13 ¶ Now it came° about as I prophesied°, that aPelatiah° son° of Benaiah° died°. Then I fell° on my face° and cried° out with a loud° voice° and said°, “bAlas°, Lord° GOD°! Will You bring° the remnant° of Israel° to a complete° end°?”

Promise of Restoration

14 ¶ Then the word° of the LORD° came° to me, saying°, 15 “Son° of man°, your brothers°, your Irelatives°, IIyour fellow° exiles° and the whole° house° of Israel°, all° of them, [are those] to whom° the inhabitants° of Jerusalem° have said°, ‘Go° far° from the LORD°; this° land° has been given° aus as a possession°.’ 16 Therefore° say°, ‘Thus° says° the Lord° GOD°, “Though° I had removed° them far° away among the nations° and though° I had scattered° them among the countries°, yet I was a asanctuary° for them a little° while° in the countries° where°° they had gone°.”’ 17 Therefore° say°, ‘Thus° says° the Lord° GOD°, “I will agather° you from the peoples° and assemble° you out of the countries° among which° you have been scattered°, and I will give° you the land° of Israel°.”’ 18 When they come° there°, they will aremove° all° its bdetestable° things° and all° its abominations° from it. 19 And I will agive° them one° heart°, and put° a new° spirit° within° Ithem. And I will take° the bheart° of stone° out of their flesh° and give° them a cheart° of flesh°, 20 that they may awalk° in My statutes° and keep° My ordinances° and do° them. Then they will be bMy people°, and I shall be their God°. 21 IBut as for those whose hearts° go° after their adetestable° things° and abominations°, I will bbring° their conduct° down° on their heads°,” declares° the Lord° GOD°.

22 ¶ Then the cherubim° alifted° up their wings° with the wheels° beside° them, and bthe glory° of the God° of Israel° Ihovered°° over° them. 23 The aglory° of the LORD° went° up from the midst° of the city° and bstood° over° the mountain° which° is east° of the city°. 24 And the aSpirit° lifted° me up and brought° me in a vision° by the Spirit° of God° to the exiles° Iin Chaldea°. The presumption of the princes.

Their sin and judgment.

4 ¶ Therefore² prophesyºª against² them, prophesy,ºª O sonº of man.º 5 And the Spiritº of the LORDº fellºª upon² me, and saidºª unto² me, Speak;ºª Thus² saithºª the LORD;º Thus² have ye said,ºª O houseº of Israel:º for I² knowºª the things that comeº into your mind,º [every one of] them. 6 Ye have multipliedºª your slainº in this² city,º and ye have filledºª the streetsº thereof with the slain.º 7 Therefore² thus² saithºª the Lordº GOD;º Your slainº whom² ye have laidºª in the midstº of it, they² [are] the flesh,º and this² [city is] the caldron:º but I will bring you forthºª² out of the midstº² of it. 8 Ye have fearedºª the sword;º and I will bringºª a swordº upon² you, saithºª the Lordº GOD.º 9 And I will bring² you out¹ª of the midstº² thereof, and deliverºª you into the handsº of strangers,ºª and will executeºª judgmentsº among you. 10 Ye shall fallºª by the sword;º I will judgeºª you in² the borderº of Israel;º and ye shall knowºª that² I² [am] the LORD.º 11 This² [city] shall not² be² your caldron,º neither shall ye² be² the fleshº in the midstº thereof; [but] I will judgeºª you in² the borderº of Israel:º 12 And ye shall knowºª that² I² [am] the LORD:º for² ye have not² walkedºª in my statutes,º neither² executedºª my judgments,º but have doneºª after the mannersº of the heathenº that² [are] round aboutº you.

Ezekiel's complaining, God sheweth him his purpose in saving a remnant,

13 ¶ And it came to pass,² when I prophesied,ºª that Pelatiahº the sonº of Benaiahº died.ºª Then fell I downºª upon² my face,º and criedºª with a loudº voice,º and said,ºª Ahº Lordº GOD!º wilt thou² makeºª a full endº² of the remnantº of Israel?º 14 Again the wordº of the LORDº came² unto² me, saying,ºª 15 Sonº of man,º thy brethren,º [even] thy brethren,º the men¹² of thy kindred,º and all² the houseº of Israelº wholly,² [are] they unto whom² the inhabitantsºª of Jerusalemº have said,ºª Get you farºª from²² the LORD:º unto us is this² landº givenºª in possession.º 16 Therefore² say,ºª Thus² saithºª the Lordº GOD;º Although² I have cast them far offºª among the heathen,º and although² I have scatteredºª them among the countries,º yet will I be² to them as a littleº sanctuaryº in the countriesº where²² they shall come.ºª 17 Therefore² say,ºª Thus² saithºª the Lordº GOD;º I will even gatherºª you from² the people,º and assembleºª you out of² the countriesº where² ye have been scattered,ºª and I will giveºª you² the landº of Israel.º 18 And they shall comeºª thither,² and they shall take awayºª² all² the detestable thingsº thereof and all² the abominationsº thereof from² thence. 19 And I will giveºª them oneº heart,º and I will putºª a newº spiritº withinº you; and I will takeºª the stonyº heartº out of their flesh,º² and will giveºª them an heartº of flesh:º 20 That² they may walk¹ª² in my statutes,º and keepºª mine ordinances,º and doºª them:² and they shall be² my people,º and I² will be² their God.º

and punishing the wicked.

21 But [as for them] whose heartº walkethºª after² the heartº of their detestable thingsº and their abominations,º I will recompenseºª their wayº upon their own heads,º saithºª the Lordº GOD.º
