Miracle at Cana

1 On athe third day there was a wedding in bCana of Galilee, and the cmother of Jesus was there; 2 and both Jesus and His adisciples were invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus *said to Him, “They have no wine.” 4 And Jesus *said to her, aWoman, Ibwhat does that have to do with us? cMy hour has not yet come.” 5 His amother *said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” 6 Now there were six stone waterpots set there afor the Jewish custom of purification, containing Itwenty or thirty gallons each. 7 Jesus *said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” So they filled them up to the brim. 8 And He *said to them, “Draw [some] out now and take it to the Iheadwaiter.” So they took it [to him]. 9 When the headwaiter tasted the water awhich had become wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter *called the bridegroom, 10 and *said to him, “Every man serves the good wine first, and when [the people] ahave Idrunk freely, [then he serves] the poorer [wine; but] you have kept the good wine until now.” 11 This beginning of [His] Iasigns Jesus did in Cana of bGalilee, and manifested His cglory, and His disciples believed in Him.

First Passover—Cleansing the Temple

13aThe Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus bwent up to Jerusalem. 14 aAnd He found in the temple those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers seated [at their tables]. 15 And He made a scourge of cords, and drove [them] all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen; and He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables; 16 and to those who were selling athe doves He said, “Take these things away; stop making bMy Father’s house a Iplace of business.” 17 His adisciples remembered that it was written, “bZEAL FOR YOUR HOUSE WILL CONSUME ME.” 18 aThe Jews then said to Him, “bWhat sign do You show us Ias your authority for doing these things?” 19 Jesus answered them, aDestroy this Itemple, and in three days I will raise it up.” 20 aThe Jews then said, “It took bforty-six years to build this Itemple, and will You raise it up in three days?” 21 But He was speaking of athe Itemple of His body. 22 So when He was raised from the dead, His adisciples bremembered that He said this; and they believed cthe Scripture and the word which Jesus had spoken.

Christ turneth water into wine,

1 ¶ And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: 2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. 3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. 4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. 5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do [it]. 6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. 7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare [it]. 9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, 10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: [but] thou hast kept the good wine until now. 11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
