The Corruption of Mankind

1 Now it came° about, when° men° began° to multiply° on the face° of the land°, and daughters° were born° to them, 2 that the sons° of God° saw° that the daughters° of men° were Ibeautiful°; and they took° wives° for themselves, whomever°° they chose°. 3 Then the LORD° said°, “aMy Spirit° shall not Istrive° with man° forever°, IIbbecause° he also° is flesh°; IIInevertheless his days° shall be one hundred° and twenty° years°.” 4 The aNephilim° were on the earth° in those° days°, and also° afterward°°, when° the sons° of God° came° in to the daughters° of men°, and they bore° [children] to them. Those° were the mighty° men° who° [were] of old°, men° of renown°.

9 ¶ These° are [the records of] the generations° of Noah°. Noah° was a arighteous° man°, Ibblameless° in his IItime°; Noah° cwalked° with God°. 10 Noah° Ibecame° the father° of three° sons°: Shem°, Ham°, and Japheth°.

13 ¶ Then God° said° to Noah°, “aThe end° of all° flesh° has come° before° Me; for the earth° is filled° with violence° because°° of them; and behold°, I am about to destroy° them with the earth°. 14 Make° for yourself an ark° of gopher° wood°; you shall make° the ark° with rooms°, and shall Icover° it inside°° and out with pitch°. 15 This° is how° you shall make° it: the length° of the ark° three° hundred° Icubits°, its breadth° fifty° Icubits°, and its height° thirty° Icubits°. 16 You shall make° a Iwindow° for the ark°, and finish° it to a cubit° from IIthe top°; and set° the door° of the ark° in the side° of it; you shall make° it with lower°, second°, and third° decks. 17 Behold°, aI, even I am bringing° the flood° of water° upon the earth°, to destroy° all° flesh° in which° is the breath° of life°, from under° heaven°; everything° that is on the earth° shall perish°. 18 But I will establish° aMy covenant° with you; and byou shall enter° the ark°—you and your sons° and your wife°, and your sons’° wives° with you. 19 aAnd of every° living° thing° of all° flesh°, you shall bring° two° of every° [kind] into the ark°, to keep° [them] alive° with you; they shall be male° and female°. 20 aOf the birds° after their kind°, and of the animals° after their kind°, of every° creeping° thing° of the ground° after its kind°, two° of every° [kind] will come° to you to keep° [them] alive°. 21 As for you, take° for yourself some° of all° afood° which° is edible°, and gather° [it] to yourself; and it shall be for food° for you and for them.” 22 aThus Noah° did°; according to all° that God° had commanded° him, so° he did°.

The wickedness of the world, which provoked God's wrath, and caused the flood.

14 ¶ Makeºª thee an arkº of gopherº wood;º roomsº shalt thou makeºª² in¹ the ark,º and shalt pitchºª it withinº² and withoutº² with pitch.º 15 And this² [is the fashion] which² thou shalt makeºª it [of]: The lengthº of the arkº [shall be] threeº hundredº cubits,º the breadthº of it fiftyº cubits,º and the heightº of it thirtyº cubits.º 16 A windowº shalt thou makeºª to the ark,º and in² a cubitº shalt thou finishºª it above;º² and the doorº of the arkº shalt thou setºª in the side² thereof;¹ [with] lower,º second,º and thirdº [stories] shalt thou makeºª it. 17 And, behold,º I,¹ even I,² do bringºª² a floodº of watersº upon² the earth,º to destroyºª all² flesh,º wherein² [is] the breathº of life,º from underº² heaven;º [and] every thingº that² [is] in the earthº shall die.ºª 18 But with² thee will I establishºª² my covenant;º and thou shalt comeºª intoº the ark,º thou,º and thy sons,º and thy wife,º and thy sons'º wivesº with² thee. 19 And of every²² living thingº of all²² flesh,º twoº of every²² [sort] shalt thou bringºª into² the ark,º to keep [them] aliveºª with² thee; they shall be² maleº and female.º 20 Of fowlsº² after their kind,º and of² cattleº after their kind,º of every²² creeping thingº of the earthº after his kind,º twoº of every²² [sort] shall comeºª unto² thee, to keep [them] alive.ºª 21 And takeºª thou² unto thee of all²² foodº that² is eaten,ºª and thou shalt gatherºª [it] to² thee; and it shall be² for foodº for thee, and for them. 22 Thus didºª Noah;º according to all² that² Godº commandedºª him, so² didºª he.
