God Deals Justly with Individuals

1 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2aWhat do you mean by using this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying,
‘bThe fathers eat the sour grapes,
But the children’s teeth Iare set on edge’?
3 As I live,” declares the Lord IGOD, “you are surely not going to use this proverb in Israel anymore. 4 Behold, aall Isouls are Mine; the IIsoul of the father as well as the IIsoul of the son is Mine. The IIIsoul who bsins will die.

God reproveth the unjust parable of sour grapes.

1 ¶ The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying, 2 What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge? 3 [As] I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have [occasion] any more to use this proverb in Israel. 4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
