NASB — Isaiah 29 — KJV

Jerusalem Is Warned

  1 Woe°, O IAriel°, IAriel° the city° [where] David° [once] acamped°!
  Add° year° to year°, IIbobserve° [your] feasts° on schedule°.
  2 I will bring° distress° to Ariel°,
  And she will be [a city of] lamenting° and amourning°;
  And she will be like an Ariel° to me.
  3 I will acamp° against° you Iencircling° [you],
  And I will set° siegeworks° against° you,
  And I will raise° up battle° towers° against° you.
  4 Then you will abe brought° low°;
  From the earth° you will speak°,
  And from the dust° [where] you are prostrate°
  Your words° [will come].
  Your voice° will also be like that of a Ispirit° from the ground°,
  And your speech° will whisper° from the dust°.

  And the multitude° of the bruthless° ones° like the chaff° which IIblows° away°;
  And it will happen° cinstantly°, suddenly°.
  6 From the LORD° of hosts° you will be apunished° with bthunder° and earthquake° and loud° noise°,
  [With] whirlwind° and tempest° and the flame° of a consuming° fire°.
  7 And the amultitude° of all° the nations° who wage° war° against° IAriel°,
  Even all° who wage° war° against her and her stronghold°, and who distress° her,
  Will be like a dream°, a bvision° of the night°.
  8 It will be as when° a hungry° man° dreams°
  And behold°, he is eating°;
  But when he awakens°, his Ihunger° is not satisfied°,

God's heavy judgment upon Jerusalem.

1 ¶ Woeº to Ariel,º to Ariel,º the cityº [where] Davidº dwelt!ºª addºª ye yearº to² year;º let them killºª sacrifices.º 2 Yet I will distressºª Ariel,º and there shall be² heavinessº and sorrow:º and it shall be² unto me as Ariel.º 3 And I will campºª against² thee round about,º and will lay siegeºª against² thee with a mount,º and I will raiseºª fortsº against² thee. 4 And thou shalt be brought down,ºª [and] shalt speakºª out of the ground,º² and thy speechº shall be lowºª out of the dust,º² and thy voiceº shall be,² as of one that hath a familiar spirit,º out of the ground,º² and thy speechº shall whisperºª out of the dust.º² 5 Moreover the multitudeº of thy strangersºª shall be² like smallº dust,º and the multitudeº of the terrible onesº [shall be] as chaffº that passeth away:ºª yea, it shall be² at an instantº suddenly.º 6 Thou shalt be visitedºª of²² the LORDº of hostsº with thunder,º and with earthquake,º and greatº noise,º with stormº and tempest,º and the flameº of devouringºª fire.º
